I love my mom very much but after having yet another aha moment from our conversation last night it got me thinking about why mom never told me about investing in myself.
Think about it right…our parents who were born between the 1940’s-1960’s really didn’t have this knowledge about proper investing.
Sure back then it was just as tough as it is
today to make ends meet but our parents are from the days where you were taught a 45 year plan to succeed.
Think about it right…our parents who were born between the 1940’s-1960’s really didn’t have this knowledge about proper investing.
Sure back then it was just as tough as it is
today to make ends meet but our parents are from the days where you were taught a 45 year plan to succeed.
Our parents were taught for years to work hard and pay the price of blood, sweat, and tears to make just enough to live on Social Security because that’s the dream lifestyle to look forward to when you retire.
I asked my mom last night in our conversation to remind me of that phrase she always told me when I was little in order to succeed in life…How did it go Mom? She said, “In order to succeed in life you must stay in school and graduate college, get a great job and work for as long as it takes till you retire and then travel where you want.”
Wow! There it is and this phrase was repeatedly spoken to me every day before I went to school in the morning, it got so annoying that I started rebelling against it.
I didn’t have a day planner or was on time for school most of the time. I watched too much teen soap operas, nickelodeon, and basically stayed in my room alone munching on so much junk food that I put on 15 lbs. and got fat.
I didn’t care I was honestly boring myself so much that I had to get a small job at 15 years old to keep from being bored earning $200 weekly as a griller in Pennsylvania at Ben’s Deli.
When the opportunity arrived for me to go to New York at the age of 18 to be a professional model/actress I blew it because of the harsh false reality of listening to the advice my mother.
That kind of scarcity mentality she bestowed on me will hold anyone back and it resulted in me passing many money making opportunities.
The universe was giving me signs and I kept ignoring them and doing exactly what I was programmed …to fail. I bet you are going through this too and your kids are feeling the brunt of it by watching you fail in your business, become lazy, and not investing enough in yourself to learn how to be a strong headed entrepreneur.
I’m telling you that you must step out of your comfort zone and de-program everything your parents have told you including their advice that has dominated your mindset all these years if you want to succeed in less than 3 years doing your choice of career.
Although there are so many ways to improve on I am going to share with you my 3 personal favorites that made a change in my business.
The following 3 Ways to Invest In Yourself are:
1. No T.V…READ BOOKS
Ever since I picked up my first book back in 2010 Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill I haven’t stopped reading similar books related to subjects like law of attraction, mindset and personal development, leadership, spiritual and meditation books that impact value in my life and others. So the challenge will be for you to turn the television off and start reading books that will educate you with a reprogramming of a new wisdom.
2. Get Your Own WP Blog and Write Content
In the beginning I didn’t own a blog I used a free blog website like blogger.com and thought of treating this like a hub for rambling thoughts but that wasn’t the right way of blogging. Now I blog daily non-stop writing value based content from everything I learn through my journey as a internet marketer. So the challenge for you is to learn SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and Keywords so you can write about what people are searching for. The key lessons you will learn is as you consistently write and blog daily your posts are going to get better and so is your skills at writing.
3. Teach Others The Skills You Are Learning
I didn’t understand how ordinary people without a master’s degree are getting paid thousands of dollars just by teaching people online skills that we learn in the industry of business.
This is when I took the time to invest six months to learn by paying a few hundred to a few thousand for courses that taught the skills I lacked to grow my business.
You can learn anything if you invest the time and money into it to understand in order for you to grow as a success entrepreneur.
The challenge for you is you have to be willing to invest in yourself and most people are not willing to invest in themselves but are willing to spend money on a college tuition or other things that is not going to teach them to be successful.
These are just only 3 ways to invest in yourself and increase your value to the market so you can grow as a leader and attract the right kind of people in your circle of influence.
I have a 6 year old son and he is learning positive programming by leading by example for him and inviting him to listen to mindset and personal development.
My son appreciates the knowledge we are sharing with him and he knows what is value and the 2-3 year plan to become successful already.
So please don’t hurt your kids by telling them to work hard for the rest of their lives and look forward to retirement on social security because that plan is old and dead.
Teach your kids to invest in themselves and work smarter through leveraging their time and in 2-3 years they will become wealthy.
